Our Safe Harbor program is a unique, separate and safe environment for those individuals who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia related disorders.

This program offers support and direction in many forms to keep residents as independent as possible for as long as possible with dignity and reassurance. The residences are in a homelike setting that features a living room, kitchen, dining room, and inside "outside" porch. All of the resident bedrooms have a private half bath. Our residents and families are encouraged to bring familiar furniture, photos and other accessories that will make their surroundings recognizable and comfortable.

In addition to verbal cueing and encouragement to motivate the resident to successfully perform daily activities, we simplify their choices by allowing the resident to use previous life skills to promote a feeling of self worth.

The Safe Harbor area is secured by keypad entry which automatically opens and closes the connecting doors to The Tides assisted living areas. The outside courtyard and patio are completely surrounded by an attractive privacy fence with locked gate. The circular path leads directly back into the building. These doors are also alarmed to alert staff when someone has entered the courtyard area so they can be closely monitored.

We have many wonderful activities throughout the campus which Safe Harbor residents may attend while being accompanied by staff or family. We believe that involvement in activities outside of Safe Harbor allows for others to have a deeper understanding and acceptance of this affliction and see the delight and comfort that is afforded to enrich our resident's lives.

Respite Care Available!

Both Safe Harbor and The Tides offer short term care for individuals who are normally being cared for at their home. This provides temporary, and much needed, relief for the caregiving family members.
